Afrobeats DPS Article
WERAY ENT’S ‘WE WILL MAKE IT TO THE TOP’
Ahead of their debut UK performance, Obi Tenner, Gogo and AY
also known as the outstanding trio Weray ENT talk ambitions and about their
place in the Afrobeats industry…
‘We will stamp Afrobeats on the map for the world to see’
As I melted on a comfortable sofa in the warming embrace of
Stratford’s studio, one could only remember the exhilarating performance
delivered to us at the indigo O2 by none other than the rising stars, Weray ENT.
As they step in to the Afrobeats scene they bring with them
a fiery determination and heighted ambition, but who will they replace in the
industry? Weray ENT was born from the
heart of East London where times were most definitely hard but through
incredible talent and musical ability they emerged victorious. When asked ‘what
ignited the Afrobeats fire?’ they answered with ‘well we always loved it but
what really started it was the fact that there were barely any Afrobeats
artists in the UK, we simply wanted to change that and bring Afrobeats fiery
nature to the UK’.
Since making a stunning entrance in to the Afrobeats industry Weray
ENT have landed in to a world of competition with the likes of Dbanj ,Wizkid,
Fuse ODG, May 7ven etc. When posed with the question ‘how do you hope to
compete against artists with a stronger fan base?’ the trio replied with ‘it’s
simple, anything is achievable if you love what your doing, and this is what we love doing and it will show in
our songs and are performances; people will see our perseverance, are energy towards Afrobeats and support
us’.
As I learned more about this Nigerian trio I found that they
were definitely driven and head strong; when faced with the question ‘what
makes you unique?’ they replied
with ‘are music videos, we bring a high
level quality of videos to are fans because we care about what they think; an
artist can have all the talent they want but if their videos are of a poor
quality people will lose interest’. When asked the question 'what influenced you to release the video ching chang walla?' the trio replied with 'ching chang walla was a cypher, it puts all your favourite artists in one video, so you really can't go wrong with a cypher.
The Afrobeats industry is in for a real surprise, as Weray
ENT forcefully attack the charts and fight their way to the top. They bring with them a tornado of flavour and extreme rhythm. They seem like tough competition but the Afrobeats industry has a lot of tough competitors. Who will be Afrobeats number 1 artist?
